Notes from abroad....
and her husband
the home page
Welcome to the Fusco's Travelogue.  My wife and I have uprooted ourselves from the U.S.
to explore Italy and Europe and this site is a way of documenting many of the sights, sounds
and oddities that we come across in our daily lives for those we love or could potentially love.

small victories
follies
We gave accurate directions to
Italian tourists to the city center.
We are so uncool, a vatican priest blows
us off.
We are both writing and reading e-mails
in Italian...without using
Babel Fish.
While it's nice outside, it is cold in our
apartment.  We felt helpless to this fact,
until Emanuele showed us what a
thermostat.looks like
We have heat.  We can now bathe in
comfort.
Italian train system triple charged us sucker
Americans for tickets to Cinque Terre.
Ordered the special at a local restaurant
only to find out it was tripe.
Was able to negotiate a refund in Italian
from the train system for overcharging us
We had some unidentified meat for dinner
because we heard a few familiar words.
We've joined the very elite group who
can say they've had tripe.
Successfully navigated ourselves through
the windy roads of Chianti.
No papers, no working visa...no dice
We have our internet phone working.
The number is on the contact page.
Melissa has been on the phone since it
started working.
Can't eat any more pasta.  Or basta pasta
Too intimated by the piles of Italian
paperwork, I decided I didn't want to
rent a movie at Blockbuster
I served as translator for an American
couple in an electrical shop.
Melissa got a duplicate set of keys made
for our apartment entirely in Italian
To avoid making myself feel like a total
fool, I ordered everything Melissa did this
morning by simply saying, "due."
We got our DSL working today.
Putting a 70 watt phone into a 1500 watt
converter to blow fuses in the whole
apartment.
Bought an adorable red scarf.  The
transaction was done almost entirely in
Italian.
Told the waiter that we indeed only
wanted to split two first courses: "Basta."
